Review: Mocality Agent Program

Maybe you've heard or read of Mocality Agent Program going on for Nigerians. If you haven't, let me do a little introduction about it.

Mocality is a Nigeria Online Business Directory that started last year, they began a program recently which they tagged 'Mocality Agent' where they reward people (agents) for registering companies on their directory. At first I was very much interested in joining their Agent program, but later got discouraged when I saw the terms and conditions applied. I'll do a run down review on the rules involved in the program.

RULE 1:

As an agent, you will be required to add businesses and you can optionally upload photos of the business - you will get paid extra for adding photos.

Add a Business (₦0.00)

Add a business by entering the business details, including phone number, business name, address and categories and earn ₦0.00. Mocality moderators will then call the business to verify these details.

This is quite understandable, your entry need to be verified before your earning is updated. I had no problem with this.

RULE 2:

Your added business details are verified (₦75.00)

When a moderator calls the business and verifies that the business details you added are correct, they will approve the business and you will earn another ₦75.00.

RULE 3:

Uploading a photo when adding a businesses (₦75.00)

When your photo includes the full business name, and is legible, you earn an additional ₦75.00.

RULE 4:

!! You must physically go to the business to verify that it exists. You may not use any other sources of business listings to add a business!!

You are required to physically visit the business to get their details. We have also implemented data quality checks to monitor the business details you add. If we find incorrect data or that you are adding data from other sources your account will be suspended and you will not be paid.

MY REVIEW:

This is absurd, is this not exploitation in the highest order? How can someone be paid N75 to walk around the streets of Nigeria, advertising and registering companies/local businesses for an online directory. Lets take for example, you were able to register 20 companies and also succeeded in taking their photos (I'm sure by then, you've already been stressed out convincing people to register their business on Mocality). Lets calculate your total earning for the day (i.e if you'll be able to register up to 20 local businesses)

N75(for registering) + N75(for the photo) = N150

N150 X 20companies = N3,000

Congratulation!!! you made N3,000 on your first day as a Mocality Agent, but the question now is: How Long Will you Continue? Can you be able to register upto 20 Local Businesses in a day? Aren't these guys paying less for more result?

Even as a broke student, I can't venture into this. If Mocality want Nigerians to work for them, let them increase the pay. It's quite unfortunate that some folks that already joined this program pulled out without reaching the minimum payout of N5,000. I'm not discouraging you from joining the program, but I'm sharing my honest opinion. There are hundreds of better online business you should engage in than Mocality Agent.

Hope you find better oppportunities online and get better reward for your time. Don't forget to drop your comments below and also share this post with friends on: Facebook, Twitter and Google+.
